The former cargo ship MS Magdalena (1901) was purchased in 2004 and has recently undergone a full renovation. The old interior was removed almost completely to make way for a brand new custom-designed and tailor-made layout. A completely new floor plan was designed on basis of the original cargo space with its fantastic spatial quality.
The sanitary unit is finished with an epoxy coating, which made tiling and grouting redundant. The spacious living room naturally flows into the master bedroom; a black centre posted block separates the two spaces. The contrast between natural daylight and dark coloured materials enhances the spatial experience of the interior. A modest white cooking isle is centred in the living space and cabinets are built in under the gangways, following the vessels fluent deck sheer. Literally on top of it, the wheelhouse with its stunning panoramic view was completed with a four-person, upholstered sitting area.
MS Magdalena is a blend of old and new. Authentic elements play with contemporary design and modern materials.
